Sun 9th Aug 2009: End of the Connection Saturday, 8th August saw the end of the Calverton Connection as we know it, here I have included some of my personal favourite photos of the route in its red guise before the black transformation, some could say it went black to the future, but I don't make such cheesy comments.... Here we go, this is it.
|
Thu 30th Jul 2009: calverton connection Nottingham - Arnold - Calverton - every 15 mins. Uses the best buses on the market; the Mercedes Benz Citaro. Lovely buses, popular drivers a very successful service. You're in really good company indeed.

Wed 1st Apr 2009: Best of the Archives These are, in my opinion, a selection of my better photos from the archived collections of brand names, images and routes that are no longer with us.
It is intended that these photos are here to 'hold back the years' so any feedback received is welcomed. It's also a way to keep the site tidier as well as a good way of showing a development of skills of my photography as time has passed by. Enjoy the photos. |
Tue 31st Mar 2009: pronto Nottingham - Mansfield - Chesterfield
every 30 mins Nottingham - Mansfield every 15 mins Leather seats are the norm on this service which links the above places up... pronto. |
||

|
Fri 13th Mar 2009: 15 In March 2009, Trent Barton transformed the image of the15 to Ilkeston and Old Sawley, via: Long Eaton, Briar Gate, Stapleford, Sandiacre and Trowell. The livery remains the same but, there's extra space, a million times more style and a better travelling experience for all with leather seats and air conditioning as standard.
Buses operate every 20 mins, hourly evenings and Sundays. |
||
|
Mon 23rd Feb 2009: the villager This little piggy used the Villager from Derby - Burton via the Villages; taking in some beautiful scenery enroute, including Tutbury castle, Hilton and very many more places en route.
At night time, there's a NightFlyer which basically operates on demand/request to anystop en-route, taking the quickest route there, this is highly successful. Recently newer, brighter/bigger buses were put on to this route, which makes it even more of a 'really good link'. 613 is the Horse bus 614 is the sheep bus 615 is the Duck bus 616 is the Cows bus 617 is the pig bus 619 is the Rabbit bus |
Sun 25th Jan 2009: Notts and Derby (Unibus) Graduation day Shuttles 2009. Photos of Notts and Derby's unibus operation on the graduation day shuttle.

Mon 15th Dec 2008: ilkeston FLYER Former Rainbow 5 Tempo 306 now serves the quick and direct route in to Derby in this smart two tone blue livery.
|
Sun 23rd Nov 2008: the end of the Rainbow In November, it was decided that the Rainbow 5 name would be axed in favour of indigo, because more people refer to the colour of the bus than the name. It also has more commercial potential because the company can now focus more on the word 'go' and produce better advertising techniques, than the Rainbow name which has run its course. Here we have a selection of photos, which I personally feel are my best of R5 vehicles. Enjoy.

|
Mon 7th Jul 2008: indigo From the 9th November 2008 travel between Long Eaton and Nottingham is to receive a mega exciting overhaul.
Out will go the current faded purple/indigo coloured Scanias in favour of the new:- buses name and interior. This combined is to hope to provide a better travel experience in to and out of Nottingham, Loughborough, Derby, Long Eaton and Sawley amongst other places. Trent Barton made the enormous investment in the service as a reward to many years of loyalty from its massive passenger base. PJ. |
Tue 17th Jun 2008: allestree New look photos of the Allestree service which links Allestree with the University and the City Centre every 7-8 mins, buses operate on a BLU and RED circular basis, opposite ways around Allestree.

Mon 16th Jun 2008: Download 2008 Notts and Derby provided shuttle buses to and from the Download Music Festival at Donington Park 2008. The festival were great and Notts and Derby provided an excellent service to get thousands of people there and even more home!
Kinchbus also provided shuttle support, with some journies to and fro Loughborough too. Also, Skylink Derby Loughborough was heavily used too. |
Wed 30th Apr 2008: red arrow In 2008, trent barton decided that it was time that flagship service red arrow, which links Nottingham and Derby, every 15 minutes needed a makeover, both inside and out. This was despite the fact that, the coaches were just under 4 years old, the image needed refreshing. So out went the drab interior, in came leather, WIFI, sexy red curtains and a refreshed image on the outside.
Any older liveried examples you wish to view can be found in the Archived Red Arrow gallery titles. |

Sun 4th Nov 2007: the 21 Photos of Tempos 317 and 318, featuring Trent Barton's and Best Impressions' latest interior design interior: Leather seats, Air Conditioning, electronically operated destination equipment amongst other things.
They were intended for the Calverton Connection, but were instead launched on to "the 21" in September 2007, making the 21 unrecognisable overnight, with the bright interior and unique livery. The route itself operates between Nottingham (Broadmarsh) and Ilkeston via: QMC, Bramcote, Stapleford and Kirk Hallam. It is the only (direct) bus linking Kirk Hallam with Nottingham and QMC (except the 20 which operates on a Sunday only basis.) Photos of the 21 taken before September 2007 can be found in the ARCHIVE ROUTE 21 gallery title. |
Sun 30th Sep 2007: keyworth connection Photos taken of the plum based liveried Optare Tempos. With luxury leather seats, air conditioning and a quick journey, people in Keyworth have never had buses so good! Definitely worth a trip, if you have an hour or so to spare.

Sat 1st Sep 2007: Tesco Extra Paladin 110 - Photo Shoot - August 2007 It was the last day for regular driver Paul Williams on the Tesco free runs before the service transferred back to Derby (from Ashfield) so I decided to go out and get some photos, Many thanks to Paul who allowed me to get a proper photo shoot of the beast which is 110, unfortunately Derby took back 110 in the afternoon and we had to make do with 275 for the last EX, (see photo in Notts and Derby Traction section.)
It was an absolutely fantastic experience. Please enjoy the photos. P. |

Thu 5th Apr 2007: X38 If you need to make that fast connection between Derby and Burton or the other way around, X38 is the way to travel. With leather seats, arm rests and Air Conditioning, it's certainly the most luxurious way to travel in to town. Tempos 307&8 YJ07 VSA/C are branded for the route which was recently extended to every 15 mins as well! So, if you ever need to make the connection, or have the time, I'd definitely reccomend a trip on the X38!
